About Photoshop Bootcamp
Jennifer Farley – Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Lightroom Instructor.
Hello, I’m Jennifer Farley. Thanks for visiting.
If you are interested in learning Photoshop, you’ve come to the right place. There are tons of free Photoshop tutorials for beginners and resources here on this site for you.
I have been teaching and creating with Adobe software for over 15 years. As well as teaching the software professionally, I am a daily active user of the “big three” – Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
I have been teaching Adobe Photoshop for over fifteen years. As a design teacher I have created courses and curriculum for graphic design and web design students. I teach at second and third level, and privately with individuals and in industry.
I started my first Photoshop related website in 2001 and it was called Digital Design Cottage. On that site, I posted my first tutorials related to Photoshop and Illustrator because I had just started to teach on a design course in Dublin, Ireland. As I wrote content for my classroom courses I shared them online. I then moved all of the Photoshop lessons onto another website called Laughing Lion Design, which was also my own design portfolio site.
For well over ten years I posted free Photoshop tutorials there and I’m glad to say that I’ve had many messages over the years from people who found them useful. I think those Photoshop lessons deserve a site of their own, and that is why they now live here on Photoshop Bootcamp. I will continue to add new free tutorials regularly as well as other Photoshop resources and some short, premium Photoshop courses.
Learning Photoshop
As a teacher, I have seen tons of mistakes people make (myself included) when they are learning Photoshop. I think it’s important to make mistakes, it’s the best way to learn, but I hope that my step-by-step tutorials will help you avoid some of the really annoying mistakes and that your path to learning Photoshop will be smoother and quicker. Having said all that, don’t be afraid of making mistakes, it is a good way to learn and you might create a digital masterpiece along the way! You certainly won’t break Photoshop.
As well as writing for my own sites, I have also written design articles for Photography-BB magazine, Design Instruct, Design Festival and for two years I was the main design writer for Sitepoint. I am the author of Learning Adobe Muse – Designing Websites Without Code. The book is now completely out of date as Adobe Muse is now dead 🙂 . As it is so out of date I can’t recommend it, but it was a very good book when it came out! 🙂
Other Stuff About Me
Professionally, I divide my time almost exactly in two. When I’m not teaching, I work for myself as an illustrator and designer and author. I illustrate children’s books, maps and editorial content.
You can see my illustration portfolio here at JenFarley.com.
I’m from Dublin originally but now live in rural Ireland with my husband and our dogs.
I am bordering on fanatical about dogs and have created a website called Drawing The Dog – where I create illustrated gifts, prints and t-shirts for dog lovers.
Please check it out.
